Shelby Thayer aka Mrs. Thayer - 6th grade Math

 I am excited about the changes occurring at MJH this year, and am looking forward to being the math teacher on the 6th grade team, and the junior high cheer coach.  In the last 22 years, I have had the opportunity to teach in three great districts: Keller, Mansfield and Maypearl.  I have had experience teaching 6th grade science, 6th grade social studies, 5th grade science and, most recently, 6th grade math.  I have received the honor of being named teacher of the year in 2003, 2015, 2020 and in 2021.       

My family and I have lived in Maypearl for the last three years.  Our three children, Elijah (15), Ava (13), and Samuel (9) all enjoy attending and learning in Maypearl schools.  Elijah is active in FFA, football, baseball and the Movement at FBC of Maypearl.  Ava is captain of the MJH cheer squad, a member of national junior society, and the Movement at FBC Maypearl. Samuel is active in baseball, where he plays shortstop, catcher and pitcher. He is also active in the RA program at FBC of Maypearl.  We love living in a community where we see students, families and friends in the community when we are out and about. 

It is going to be fun to see last year's 6th and 7th graders again in the halls of MJH, and I look forward to working with and getting to know this year's 6th graders!
