Hi! My Name is Jim Roberts and I am happy and excited to be teaching 6th grade ELAR at Maypearl Middle School. I am married to my beautiful wife, Cate, and we have lived in Texas since June of 2020. We moved from Arizona to be near our granddaughter (Finley - 3) and have recently been blessed with a grandson (Henry - 8 weeks). I graduated from Arizona State University where I earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree. I was a member of the Arizona State University Sun Devil Football team and a starting offensive guard for 2 seasons. After college, I taught elementary physical education (K-6) for 31 years in the Mesa Public School District. My next 5 years were spent teaching K-8 physical education at Gilbert Christian School for a total of 36 years of teaching experience. I was honored to be selected as the 1998 National Elementary School Physical Education Teacher of the Year by our national physical education association. I spent the last year substituting in both Waxahachie and Maypearl as I worked on acquiring my classroom teaching certification. Together my wife and I have 3 grown children (Jenna - 32, Ethan - 31, and AJ - home with the Lord). I was born in Burlington, Wisconsin and lived there until age 11 when my Mom, Dad and 6 brothers moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. My wife and I love living in Texas and have purchased a small ranch and currently have a small herd of 7 Lowline Black Angus cattle. I look forward to working with staff, students and families in Maypearl. I am looking forward to a great year ahead. Go Panthers!
